This PSCRB-REFRESHER course is designed for seafarers who are required to perform survival craft operations during shipboard emergency response situations. Participants of this refresher course will be made competent or improve their competencies in operating life-saving appliances and taking charge of a survival craft or rescue boat during or after launch. They will also be able to operate a survival craft engine and manage survivors and survival craft after abandoning ship. Trainees will know the correct use of all locating devices, including communication and signaling apparatus and pyrotechnics, how to apply first aid to survivors and the actions to take to preserve the lives of those in their charge. The course conducted under the STCW REGULATION Paragraphs 5 and 6 Section A-VI/2 and column 1of table A-VI/2-1 of STCW Code 1978, as amended.
TEACHING METHOD:
The training will take place both in the classroom lecture and in practical station. Class room general briefing followed by practical lifeboat and all accessories and equipment handling similar to those undertaken on the original PSCRB course is the training scheme of this course.
ENTRY REQUIREMENT / TARGET GROUP:
There are two options to prove the admission requirements; Either the seafarer must have a valid initial PSCRB certificate in accordance with Section A-VI/2 paragraph 1 to 4, Table A-VI/2-1 of the STCW Code 1978, as amended; or the seafarer must have a valid PSCRB-R certificate in accordance with Section A-VI/2 paragraphs 1 to 4, Table A-VI/2-1 of the STCW Code 1978, as amended.
COURSE CERTIFICATE:
On successful completion of this course the Institute will issue certificate of attendance and proficiency certificate will be issued by Department of Shipping (DoS).
