HIGH VOLTAGE INSTALLATION SYSTEM (MANAGEMENT LEVEL)

Duration: 5 Days (35 hours)

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

 This course is intended for engineer officers responsible for the safe control and management of high voltage power systems for essential education and training in high voltage installations to meet the Knowledge, Understanding and Proficiency (KUP) requirements set out in the STCW: Table A-III/2. Function: Electrical, electronic and control engineering at the management level. Competence: Manage high voltage installation, trouble shooting and restoration of electrical equipment to operating condition.

COURSE AIMS & OBJECTIVES:

Candidates: i) will be able to manage high voltage operations on board a ship. ii)  will understand the high voltage system and the maintenance of distribution capability & restore power if faults are there in HV systems.

TEACHING METHOD:

Instructions will be undertaken through a combination of lectures, tutorials and simulation training conducted by several lecturers; each one is a specialist on their respective subject area(s).

ENTRY REQUIREMENT / TARGET GROUP:

Be not less than 18 years of age have adequate academic and workshop training as per STCW.

COURSE CERTIFICATE:

A certificate of course completion shall be issued to those who shall satisfactorily fulfill the course requirements. Certificate of Proficiency is issued by the Department of Shipping on completion of an oral test.
