Duration: 5 Days (40 hours)
The course is based on the IMO Model course 2.07 and complies with the requirements of the STCW 1978, as amended. The course is designed to enhance knowledge and skills to operate, supervise, and monitor safe operation and control of a ship’s machinery installation.
COURSE AIMS & OBJECTIVES:
To provide knowledge and skills to operate, supervise and monitor safe operation and control of engine room machinery installation. On completion of this course, students will be:
- Aware of need for proper pre-planning, use of checklist is start up operation
- Undertaking and aware of correct watch keeping procedure
- Experiencing operational problem and trouble shooting
- Making decision

TEACHING METHOD:
Engine Room systems are started and operated in a systematic manner, in accordance with laid down procedures and safety guidelines. Thereby, theory lectures on operational procedures are followed up by practical exercises on the simulator so that candidates are able to monitor the changes in various parameters.
ENTRY REQUIREMENT / TARGET GROUP:
This course is intended for engineer officer with watch keeping experience at sea (at operational level) aspiring to enhance knowledge of operation and control by various structured activities in Simulated Condition.
COURSE CERTIFICATE:
A certificate of course completion shall be issued to those who shall satisfactorily fulfill the course requirements. Certificate of Proficiency is issued by the Department of Shipping on completion of an oral test.
