BRIDGE RESOURCE MANAGEMENT AND APPLICATION OF LEADERSHIP AND MANAGERIAL SKILLS (MANAGEMENT LEVEL)

Duration: 5 Days (35 hours)

This course is designed for all senior officers and ratings as well as senior level shore-based personnel. The modules, instructions and activities imbedded in the course intends to impart know-how and develop aptitude on the use and coordination of all the skills, knowledge, experiences and resources available to the ship’s team to accomplish or achieve the established goals of safety and efficiency of ship’s operation.

COURSE AIMS & OBJECTIVES:

After completion of the course, participants should have developed a sense of awareness & motivation and a change of attitude in managing a team and individual as well as technical resources in a highly operational maritime environment. This includes understanding of the different perspectives and importance of good management & teamwork and the willingness to change behavior in a constructive sense.

Each course module indicates Training Objectives and Specific Behavioral Objectives (SBO’s) that describe recommended performance and behavior in managerial situations.

TEACHING METHOD:

Instructions will be undertaken mainly through a combination of lectures and tutorials. Relevant case studies will be discussed and students will be encouraged to participate in group discussion to examine their understanding from case studies.

ENTRY REQUIREMENT / TARGET GROUP:

Entry to this course is open to all Deck and Engine officers as well as senior level shore-based personnel.

COURSE CERTIFICATE:

A Certificate of Completion is given to each participant who fulfills the Course. Certificate of Proficiency is issued by the Department of Shipping on completion of an oral test.
