Duration: 5 Days (40 hours)
This course is meant for officers and ratings assigned basic duties and responsibilities related to cargo or cargo equipment on board oil and chemical tankers. By successfully completing this course, the aforementioned shipboard personnel will fulfill the mandatory minimum requirements of Regulation V/1-1 of STCW 1978, as amended.
OBJECTIVE / AIM:
The participant having completed the course will be able to develop specific duties related to loading, loading equipment, unloading, cargo handling, tank cleaning and prevention contamination.

- Introduction & basic knowledge of tankers
- Physical and chemical properties of oil and chemicals
- Knowledge and understanding of tanker safety culture and safety management

TEACHING METHOD:
The teaching instruction comprises a basic training appropriate to tanker personnel duties, including oil and chemical tanker safety, fire safety measures and systems, pollution prevention and operational practice. The instruction will be delivered through combination of classroom lecture, open discussion and tanker simulator exercises.
COURSE CERTIFICATE:
A certificate of course completion shall be issued to those who shall satisfactorily fulfill the course requirements. Certificate of Proficiency is issued by the Department of Shipping on completion of an oral test.
