BASIC TRAINING FOR GAS TANKER CARGO OPERATIONS (TANK. FAM) (LIQUEFIED GAS)

Duration: 4 Days (30 hours)

This course provides an introduction to liquefied gas tankers and imparts the basic knowledge needed to serve as a member of the crew on this type of vessel and undertake specific duties relating to cargo and cargo equipment. The course is designed to meet the requirements of STCW section V/1-2-1 and is based on the guidelines of the IMO Model Course 1.04.

OBJECTIVE / AIM:

The objective of this course is to meet the training requirements STCW-78, as amended which comprises a basic training program appropriate to their duties, including liquefied gas tanker safety, fire safety measures and systems, pollution prevention, operational practice and obligations under applicable laws and regulations.

TEACHING METHOD:

The teaching instruction comprises a basic training appropriate to tanker personnel duties, including gas tanker safety, fire safety measures and systems, pollution prevention and operational practice. The instruction will be delivered through combination of classroom lecture, open discussion and tanker simulator exercises.

COURSE CERTIFICATE:

A certificate of course completion shall be issued to those who shall satisfactorily fulfill the course requirements. Certificate of Proficiency is issued by the Department of Shipping on completion of an oral test.
