Course Title: SHIP-TO-SHIP LIGHTERING

This training course is intended for Mooring Masters/Deck Officers. The training focuses on essential ship handling issues & practices with emphasis on ship-ship interaction and lightering operations taking into account the latest OCIMF guidelines & best industry advice. Training exercises are conducted on Full Mission Shiphandling Simulator covering different Ship-to-Ship (STS) maneuvers (mooring and unmooring) and transfer operations.
COURSE AIMS & OBJECTIVES:
The course aims to provide ship handling principles directed on ship-ship interaction and good operating practices on STS transfer procedures in accordance to established industry guidelines & safety recommendations to ensure sound and efficient operations through all the key stages of lightering maneuvers & operations.
COVERAGE / PROGRAM FOCUS:
Instructions and practical exercises deal with the following subject and training areas:
- Ship to ship interaction
- OCIMF Ship To Ship Transfer Guide (Petroleum/Gas)
- Mooring / Unmooring Operations
- Towing SS/STBL
METHOD:
Balance between lecture-presentation and simulation exercises with briefing/debriefing sessions using Full Mission Shiphandling Simulator.
ENTRY REQUIREMENT / TARGET GROUP:
The course is open to both experienced and inexperienced Mooring Masters / Deck Officers. Those intending to take the course should have completed a course in Ship Maneuvering & Handling.
COURSE CERTIFICATE:
A Certificate of Completion is given to each participant who satisfactorily fulfills the Course.
