Course Title: ELECTRO-TECHNICAL RATINGS COURSE

This course provides modular training that covers lectures, practical demonstrations, laboratory exercises, simulator exercises, computer-based training, case studies, practical exercises, and assessments using industry- relevant training facilities, tools and equipment meeting the requirements prescribed in Table A-III/7, Specification of minimum standards of competence for electro-technical ratings, of the STCW Code 2010 Manila Amendments.

COURSE AIMS & OBJECTIVES:

The course aims to enhance the competency of electro-technical personnel in
1. electrical, electronic and control engineering
2. maintenance and repair and
3. control of operation of the ship and care for personnel onboard necessary to perform duties at the operational level.
After the training, the participants shall be able to:
Function: Electrical, electronic and control engineering at the support level
Function: Maintenance and Repair at The Support Level
Function: Controlling the operation of the ship and care for persons on board at the support level

COVERAGE / PROGRAM FOCUS:

1. Safe use of electrical equipment
2. Contribute to monitoring the operation of electrical systems and machinery
3. Use hand tools, electrical and electronic measurement equipment for fault finding, maintenance and repair operations
4. Contribute to shipboard maintenance and repair
5. Contribute to the maintenance and repair of electrical systems and machinery on board
6. Contribute to the handling of stores
7. Apply precautions and contribute to the prevention of pollution of the marine environment
8. Apply occupational health and safety precautions

FACILITIES:

1. Facilities for theoretical part
Ordinary classroom of minimum 25 places, equipped whit:
• Whiteboard
• PC computer
• Multimedia Projector with screen
• Demonstration table
Separate rooms, equipped with a table and chairs, will also be available to accommodate three or four groups of trainees during case studies and other group assignments
2. Facilities for practical part For the practical part of the course, all necessary equipments are available.

ENTRY REQUIREMENT / TARGET GROUP:

This course is principally intended for trainee who has:

- Passed S.S.C and three years diploma from any recognized technical institute on related field
- Not less than 20 years of age
- Basic training as per rule 11(2)
- Medical fitness as per rule 25 (Govt. of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Ministry of Shipping Notification – Dated 8th February 2011)

COURSE CERTIFICATE:

The trainee who completes the course will be issued a Certificate of attendance certifying that the holder meets or exceeds the level of knowledge specified in STCW section III/7 to perform duties as an electro technical rating and proficiency certificate will be issued by Department of Shipping (DoS).
